The Sports Scholarship for the 2022/2023 academic session at Anglia Ruskin University is designed to support talented athletes during their time at the university.
Normally, there are two scholarship levels, ranging from £1,400 up to £12,500 per year.
What is the Goal Of The Scholarship

Each scholarship is unique to the athlete, but here are some of the extra perks that beneficiaries can also enjoy include:
- Free sports club membership, which includes transportation and competition entry fees for a variety of events.
- Financial support for performance-related fees
- Free access to campus gyms and sports therapists strength and
- Conditioning support from dedicated Coaches (the level of support is agreed on a case-by-case basis).
A Brief Insight Into Anglia Ruskin University’s History
The Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) is a public university located in East Anglia, United Kingdom. Its roots are in the Cambridge School of Art, established by William John Beaumont in 1858. It became a university in 1992 and was renamed after John Ruskin in 2005. It is one of the “post-1992 universities”.
Anglia Ruskin has over 39,000 students worldwide with campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough, and London. It also has campuses on the campus of the College of West Anglia in King’s Lynn, Wisbech, and Cambridge, and has partnerships with universities around the world including universities located in Berlin, Budapest, Trinidad, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.

Who Can Have Access To These Scholarships?
Students playing in performance sports like basketball and volleyball are eligible for sports scholarships; but, under rare circumstances, the University will however consider applications from students competing in individual sports at the highest levels. All sport scholars have free access to the exercise centres at both the Cambridge and Chelmsford campuses.
To be considered for an Anglia Ruskin University Sports Scholarship, you must:
- Fulfill the prerequisites for your chosen course
- You must be a UK, EU, or foreign student
- You must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree at our Guild House campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, or Peterborough.
- You must be competing at a regional or national level to qualify for elite level scholarship.
- To be eligible for our Podium Level scholarship, you must compete at a national or international level.
- Demonstrate that you will have a major impact on the performance of the ARU sports team you join (if applicable) and/or BUCS points
How Much Is the Sports Scholarships Worth?
The sports scholarship at Anglia Ruskin University Scholarships are available at two levels, ranging from £1,400 to £12,500 per year. The levels to look at are:
This sports scholarship, worth up to £12,500 per year, is available to students of international standing who can participate at the top level of university sport and above. It can be in the form of a complete or partial fee waiver.
Individualised strength and conditioning sessions, sport therapy, sports performance courses, and fees, travel, and lodging for agreed-upon contests are all included.
We provide £1,400 annual scholarships to students who participate at a regional or national level to pay performance-related expenditures. It is provided as a monetary award.

The Anglia Ruskin Sports Scholarship pays the full cost of the beneficiary’s degree program. Continued academic achievement is however a required for eligibility.
How Are Applications Evaluated?
A panel of professionals from the Anglia Ruskin University will evaluate your application, looking at the information you offer in your application and supporting paperwork to determine if you merit the award. You may be required to undertake a screening or submit a report from your previous club or team’s physiotherapists (or its equivalent).
The University may also contact you to set up an interview to discuss your application.
